Six BPL T20 franchises submit local players retainees’ list

Six of the BPL T20 franchises have submitted their respective local retainees’ list for the fifth edition, set to begin on November 3 this year.
Thursday was the deadline of submission for the six franchises from last season.
As for the newest franchise of the tournament, Sylhet Surma Sixers, the BPL governing council is mulling providing the side a list of the local players, minus the Icons and retained cricketers.
Being a new team, Sylhet will be given the opportunity to pick three local cricketers from the list so that all the seven teams walk into the players’ draft with equal number of local cricketers.
The BPL players’ draft is scheduled to be held on September 16.

Comilla Victorians did not wait for the deadline and announced ImrulKayes, Liton Das and Mohammad Saifuddin as their retained cricketers with Tamim Iqbal as the Icon.
It is understood that Dhaka Dynamites with Shakib al Hasan as Icon retained Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Shahid and MehediMaruf.
Khulna Titans with Mahmudullah as Icon retained Shafiul Islam, Mosharraf Hossain and ArifulHaque.
Chittagong Vikings will have Soumya Sarkar as the Icon and retained Taskin Ahmed, AnamulHaque and Subashish Roy.
Rajshahi Kings named Mushfiqur Rahim as their Icon and is known to have retained MominulHaque, Mehedi Hasan and Farhad Reza.
Rangpur Riders have retained Mohammad Mithun, Rubel Hossain and SohagGazi and boast Mashrafe bin Mortaza as their Icon.
If the players’ draft regulation does not change, the seven franchises will be allowed to register maximum of 13 local cricketers and will have the embargo of picking seven local cricketers from the draft.
